Recruiter Spotlight: Kristin Love
Meet Kristin Love, Talent’s Recruiting Manager. You can find her on any given day managing resource requests from clients and overseeing the recruiting team. She works behind the scenes, coordinating Talent’s multi-tiered process for finding clients the best candidate matches.
Even after 10 years on the job, she says she still couldn’t tell you what a typical day is like. “No two days are exactly the same! It’s very fast-paced. To do this job, you have to be a master at multi-tasking. In this business, timeliness is everything. If you’re not on it, you’ll miss the opportunity.”
Q: As Recruiting Manager, what do you like best about your job?
A: I enjoy people. I love meeting someone new and getting the chance to learn about them. Also, I get to leverage many skill sets. It’s always different, and the energy is very dynamic.
Q: What do you believe sets Talent apart?
A: Talent is totally focused on the Twin Cities market. We make all of our decisions based on what’s happening in the Twin Cities, not nationwide or anywhere else. Another thing is that Talent is focused on senior-level consultants. I get to work with requests that are career-leveraging for clients. The fact that Talent is lucky enough to get the best projects in town makes my job a lot easier!
Q: What are the most exciting trends currently emerging in the IT industry?
A: Every year is different. In the first few years, it was a very robust time in the IT market. Now, it changes year-to-year. With the changing times in our economy, many companies are hunkering down instead of innovating. However, it’s clear that the focus on mobile devices is going to keep growing.
Q: What are the biggest changes you’ve seen in the IT industry in the last few years?
A: I’ve been through two major recessions. Y2K was the first, and that was tough for our industry. It hit us hard. This last downturn has been more widespread, and it hasn’t been as devastating as Y2K for us—thankfully.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do when not working?
A: I have two grade-schoolers, so I’m a chauffeur in my spare time!
